L2tek and a group of our customers and suppliers are going to spend the day at Farnborough tomorrow. Unfortunatley we won't be seeing the Dreamliner because that's gone home already! It did however do a fly past with two Spitfires (all powered by Rolls Royce engines) and I managed to get a mobile phone shot from Tweseldown racecourse. Really poor picture but the best I could do.

80 PLUS power supplies
We’re beginning to hear so much more about power saving technology and green power audits on products. Do you design systems with green credentials in mind?
Here are a couple of links that will help out, and some information on the 80 PLUS programme for highly efficient power supplies.
http://www.80plus.org/80what.htm
What is the 80 PLUS specification?
"The 80 PLUS performance specification requires multi-output power supplies in computers and servers to be 80% or greater energy efficient at 20%, 50% and 100% of rated load with a true power factor of 0.9 or greater. This makes an 80 PLUS certified power supply substantially more efficient than typical power supplies and creates a unique market differentiation opportunity for power supply and computer manufacturers."

IFSEC Security Exhibition
We're seeing more and more applications for high definition CCTV and were pleased to see customers adopting Gennum's Avvia transmitters and receivers in HD CCTV designs. It really shows the quality you can get when original HD 1080P contrent is used before compression. It's worth checking out the activity of the HD CCTV Alliance at http://www.highdefcctv.org/ . We've just received some useful information on cable length performance with various cable types, including RG59 for existing installations and a nice lightweight "truck cable" from Belden - type RG179DT http://www.belden.com/pdfs/prodbull/NP207.pdf
